Some spiders hang around in the air on thin threads they weave themselves. Other ones have to travel about wearing boots and shoes. The Thornyclod is one of these boot-wearing sorts of spider and it puts different boots and shoes on each foot. This is because footwear doesn't come in eights and the Thornyclod has eight feet.

To a Boggle or Twiggle a Thornyclod is a huge frightening creature. But they are generally quite nice once you get used to them.

Thornyclods are terrible cooks but they do make excellent marshmallows (using real marsh).
